The Taoiseach has congratulated the swimmer Bethany Firth on becoming the first Irish person to win a gold medal for Ireland at the 2012 London Paralympics.

A woman who became a 2012 Paralympics hopeful after losing both her legs in the 7/7 attacks was hailed as “truly inspirational” by a coroner today.
