A Mexican national was executed in Texas for killing a Houston police officer, despite pleas and diplomatic pressure from the Mexican government and the US State Department to halt the punishment.

THE International Court of Justice ruled yesterday that the United States violated the rights of 51 Mexicans on death row and ordered their cases be reviewed.
