Kilkenny had to rely on a Walter Walsh goal to help them avoid a first championship defeat to Waterford since the 1959 All-Ireland final.

A couple of weeks back Austin Gleeson gave a superb exhibition of centre-back play in Walsh Park for the Waterford U21s as they rolled to an impressive victory over Tipperary in the Munster final.

Kilkenny and Waterford have revealed their teams for tomorrow night's All-Ireland SHC third phase qualifier at Semple Stadium (throw-in 7pm).

Waterford have not beaten Kilkenny in the championship for 54 years. While the sides have only met six times in that period, the fact they all came in All-Ireland finals and semi-finals has left a scar on the Déise consciousness dating back to the 1959 All-Ireland final replay.
