Shares in DCC rose by over 6% yesterday on the back of the Dublin-based international support services group signing the second largest takeover deal in its history.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has approve Topaz's purchase of Esso.

International sales, marketing and distribution business DCC yesterday raised more than €270m in a share placing, on the same day it announced bigger-than- expected earnings growth and its largest ever acquisition.
