The only data centre in Munster has doubled in size, as part of a €6m investment that it says will be a “catalyst for Cork’s transition to 5G”, the next evolution of mobile device technology.

Cork Internet eXchange said its advanced plans to link onto a high-speed transatlantic cable will make it the fastest data switching centre on the island this summer, as it eyes more sub-sea connections into Europe and eventually into Asia.
