The website linked to the suicides of two Irish schoolgirls last year and a 14-year-old girl in Britain earlier this month has finally introduced new safety measures in a bid to tackle cyberbullying.

The father of a 14-year-old girl who ended her life after enduring months of online bullying had told his daughter to stop using a controversial website in the run-up to her death.

Anything that will protect vulnerable, emotionally brittle young people from the worst excesses of bullying on social media or elsewhere is to be welcomed.
