The man suspected of planting bombs in New York and New Jersey provided investigators with a wealth of clues that led to his arrest some 50 hours after the first explosion, officials have said.

Update 4.30pm: A suspect wanted in connection with explosions in New York City and New Jersey has been taken into custody following a shoot-out with police officers, a law enforcement official said.
