Rise of the regional airport

Recent figures from travel agency Click&Go Holidays show that more of us than ever are setting off on our holidays from regional airports.

Departures from Cork Airport have increased by 31% year-on-year with Shannon Airport departures up by 57%.

Increased routes and higher capacity are two of the driving forces.

Lanzarote, the Algarve and Costa del Sol are the top sun destinations from Cork, with Amsterdam, Valencia and London among the top city breaks.

US trips from Shannon are strong too, with New York, Boston and Las Vegas the top spots.
