Irish Ferries has become the first Irish ferry company to adopt text messaging technology as a means of transmitting urgent messages to customers during periods of adverse weather conditions. Text messages will be relayed to passengers booked to travel on sailings that are likely to be cancelled or delayed.

Passengers will be invited to provide their mobile telephone number which is then fed into the reservations system. When sailings are at risk, a simple message is prepared and transmitted to all, followed by updates as required.

With mobile technology effective across international borders, the service has proven to be most effective.

French Life has extended its full range of early booking holiday offers until the end of November. The British-based operator claims to have an unrivalled price structure (in euro) for 2003, although Irish operators would hotly dispute that.

American Holidays will offer no less than 31 escorted tour itineraries in 2003. The USA and Canada are vast countries and the company has expanded the programme to ensure clients can get the very best out of their holidays.

Train journeys throughout Canada and new itineraries through the southern states of America have been added. American Holidays boast that many tour prices are cheaper than this year.
