SUBSCRIBEAs their big day dawned, two words summed up their emotions for this Cork couple.
Amy Ormond and Ciarán O’Donovan were wed in August at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery by celebrant and solemniser Brian Twomey. The entire occasion lived up to their every expectation. “We felt so lucky,” says Amy, from Ballinlough.

“We wanted a small, intimate wedding with our immediate family. There were just 18 of us there on the day, a very small family celebration of our love — and it was exactly what we wanted!”
The bride and groom, from Frankfield, now live in Douglas with their two daughters, Abigail and Carly O’Donovan, who enjoyed being at the heart of the action as their flowergirls. “We also had our nieces Everly and Fairah and Roisin as flowergirls,” says Amy.

Amy and Ciarán have been together since 2015. “We had known one another for about 10 years before that,” says Amy.
Monart Destination Spa in Co Wexford set the five-star scene for their engagement, and organising their nuptials proved to be a fun experience.
The bride’s parents, Marion and Robert Ormond, and the groom’s mother and father, Maria and Kieran O’Donovan, played key roles as wedding planners too. “As we had a small celebration, a lot of responsibility lay with my mom and cousin, Stephanie Murphy,” adds Amy.

“My mom did the flowers herself and also, with my cousin Stephanie, organised all the usual bridal bits — they basically did the job of four or five bridesmaids and made me feel so special.”
Hair By Mare and makeup artist Nikki Burke formed the hair and makeup team, and wedding photographer Dermot Sullivan (dermotsullivan.com) was behind the camera.

As for the honeymoon? “We stayed in West Cork with all of the family for a few days,” adds Amy.
