Rachael Blackmore and Brian Hayes have welcomed their firstborn baby, Bowie Martin Hayes.

The Tipperary trailblazer, who retired from horse riding last year, revealed the news of her pregnancy earlier this year with a snap of her car with a pram box in the boot.

“Boot contents looking a little different now,” she captioned the story post at the time.

A legend of national hunt racing, Blackmore has turned her hand to some presenting duties and recently appeared on ITV Racing for the Aintree Grand National 2026.

She was also appointed as the Head of Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year.

Breaking the news about the arrival of her firstborn, Blackmore posted a black and white photo on Instagram, simply captioning the post: “Bowie Martin Hayes,” along with a blue heart emoji.

Blackmore married her longtime love and fellow jockey, Brian Hayes, in private in Rosscarbery, West Cork, at the beginning of January.

In a post-race interview with RacingTV earlier this year, Hayes described it as a lovely day and said it was “nice to get married finally”.
