My Wedding Day with Dagogo Hart: 'Both of our moms were very involved — my mom was so extra'

Dagogo Hart with his wife Faith on their wedding day

We got married on July 2, 2022. We went back home to Nigeria to get married. It was a three-day event. We had a traditional Nigerian wedding on the Thursday in my family’s hometown in southern Nigeria.

That day was all about a display of customs. To begin with the head of Faith’s family spoke to the head of my family. The bride’s family asked a series of questions of my family, like “will your son take care of our daughter?” and “can we trust this man?”. Of course most of the answers they already knew as we’ve been together for a while — it’s just for custom’s sake.
