My Wedding Day with Helena O'Toole: 'I always wanted to be married in a castle — we settled for castle-adjacent'

Helena O'Toole, her husband Rory Fitzgerald, and their son Noah on the couple's wedding day.

We got married on February 7, 2025, so just a few months ago. We got engaged about two years before that. Rory proposed to me on the day we brought our son Noah home from the hospital after I had him. We always said we didn't want a really long engagement. So we aimed for around two years after the engagement.

We had the reception in Trim Castle in Meath. I’d always wanted to be married in a castle since I was a little girl. I thought a castle wedding would be absolutely gorgeous. But castle weddings are expensive.
