Donncha O'Callaghan: ‘There’s an animal in there... he’s a bit of an asshole’

As Donncha O’Callaghan returns to our screens with Ireland’s Fittest Family this Sunday, he chats to Noel Baker about channelling his competitive edge, mental health and his hopes for the future of rugby

There is someone, somewhere, who doesn’t know that they once had a lucky escape as they trundled past Donncha O’Callaghan on their bike.

The former Munster and Ireland man laughs like a drain as he recalls the encounter, which took place just a few weeks after he’d finally retired from a stellar career.
