‘Obviously shaken’: Jedward twin charts mugging attempt in London

Edward Grimes took to social media to write about his frightening experience while celebrating his birthday at the weekend 

The lrish identical twins now live in the UK.

 One half of the Jedward twins has spoken out about his attempted mugging in London over the weekend by “two masked guys” on bikes.

“Be careful everyone,” Edward Grimes (32) posted on his social media. 

“Two masked guys tried to mug me on bikes as I was talking on the phone!” The singer and television presenter, who shot to fame alongside his identical twin brother John on the X Factor, said he was “obviously shaken but was not expecting it. Seems like it’s happening all over London,” he wrote.

Posting on the Jedward X account (formerly known as Twitter), which has almost 700,000 followers, Edward said he “felt my wrist and arm being grabbed from behind.

 It all happened so fast and didn’t have John next to me!”

 The Eurovision singer also explained that he didn’t want anyone else to experience this type of attack which is why he felt compelled to speak out. “Just would hate this to happen to anyone else,” he posted, “and being made feel vulnerable.” 

 Fans quickly jumped to support Edward. “Hope you guys are ok,” wrote one commenter. “It’s becoming a thing. Often on a motorbike, not a bike. They run over the victim’s feet so they can’t run after them, then grab the phone.”

“That’s awful,” Edward replied. “It’s just horrendous, that’s peoples whole life and memories on that phone. Stay safe.” 

 The brothers celebrated their 32nd birthday yesterday.

Jedward’s combined net worth has been estimated at €6m, and they have been ranked as the fifth most financially successful former X Factor UK contestants.
