Patrick Kielty on the Late Late Show, RTÉ’s pay scandal, and Cork audiences

It feels slightly strange, and not a little daunting, to be sitting in RTÉ interviewing the new host of the world’s longest-running live chat show, but Patrick Kielty puts me at ease immediately.
When I tell him I’ve come up from Cork, he reminisces fondly about doing a stand-up gig at Sea Church in Ballycotton last year. How did he find the Cork audience, I ask.
