Humans have an inherent fascination with the darker aspects of life, and our interest in true crime has given rise to a multitude of books, documentaries, podcasts, and even dramatisations of real-life criminal events. 

But historian, author and one of Ireland’s best-known podcasters, Fin Dwyer, is adamant that his book, A Lethal Legacy: A History of Ireland in 18 Murders, does not fall into the true crime genre.
