Sleep expert to meet Cork parents to help develop a sleep routine for babies
How to support your child's natural ability to sleep — without ever leaving them to cry alone.
A good night's sleep is often one of the first casualties of becoming a parent. A straight run of seven to eight hours of sleep quickly becomes a distant memory.
The dream goal is to help your baby establish a sleep routine. So you try every sleep-hygiene trick in the book — a warm bath, dimmed lights, a cool bedroom. But your little one isn't interested — not when there's a bottle to digest, wind to be released or the added challenge of being overtired or teething.
You might muddle through maternity leave by taking catnaps during the day, but the cold reality can hit when you’re back at work and trying to get through a busy day on three hours' sleep.
For some of us, disrupted sleep can continue for years.
But support is at hand. On Tuesday, March 24, paediatric sleep consultant and author Lucy Wolfe will join ieParenting at the Douglas Court Shopping Centre, Cork, for a talk on helping your child drift off to the Land of Nod.
With more than a decade of study and experience, her approach is effective and compassionate. She’ll help you understand what’s disrupting your child’s sleep and show you how to support their natural ability to sleep — without ever leaving them to cry alone.
"I am looking forward to meeting and supporting the parents, and providing responsive and effective insights to promote their sleep experience and parenting relationship," Wolfe said. There will also be time for questions.
