Some Irish stargazers may be able to reel in the new year with the Northern Lights

Certain parts of the country could be lucky enough to ring in the new year with the Northern Lights later tonight – if the rain doesn’t spoil it.

As people across Ireland gather to sing Auld Lang Syne, the Northern Lights are expected to make an appearance.
