It hasn’t been ideal beach weather and crowds at the seaside have been much smaller than in other years. But littering still happens and the annual, mammoth coastal clean-up will take place next month.

As the summer of 2023 was also poor, with beaches attracting far fewer numbers than normal, you might reasonably expect the majority to be virtually litter-free. Sadly, that does not reflect the state of our coastal environment, an Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey finds.
