The holiday

As the darker evenings begin to draw in, it’s natural to start thinking of sunny destinations. Enter John Barrett, the king of theme park holidays. The owner of Magic Vacations in Kinsale – the ITAA Top Irish Travel Agent 2025 – is hosting the Big 10 Travel Event in Actons Hotel in Kinsale on September 21. Plan your holiday for 2026, and there’s also a chance to win a trip to Lapland.

From theme parks to city breaks to cruises, there’ll be holiday information on Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean, Disney destinations, MSC Cruises, Sunway and many more.

Entry free but booking is required on eventbrite.

The autumn make up must

Chanel’s iconic eye shadow has had a makeover. Les 4 Ombres Boutons, €82, adds a couture twist to the classic palette – the rounded eye shadows have been decorated with Chanel motifs, each one like a little button – a miniature wardrobe of Chanel for the eyes. With four shades to choose from, the standout is Baroque and its shimmering magenta purple. A luxurious welcome to Autumn.

Culture Night is turning 20. This is the weekend to check what’s on in your area on September 19.

Across Cork City, doors will open late with a programme of special events and one-of-a-kind experiences – all completely free – from music to visual arts, to literature, dance and more.

The skincare

Anyone who suffers with dark spots needs to take note of Eurcerin’s anti-pigment range. While issues may never completely disappear, dark spots will noticeably fade with continued use. Plus, it’s affordable.

The cleanser costs €19; the day care, with SPF, is €34. At the core of the range is Thiamidol , an effective anti-spot ingredient that targets the root cause of hyperpigmentation by reducing melanin production.

The show

Emerging West Cork artist and writer Holly Hughes makes her debut at the Dublin Fringe Festival with her one-woman show ‘I Want To Speak To Your Manager (How I Was Radicalised, And Became…Karen)’. Blending personal storytelling with stand-up, the show is provocative, funny and relatable as Holly reclaims the typical “Karen” stereotype asking the question: is being a “Karen” really such a bad thing after all?

At its core, the show celebrates female boldness, challenges the pressure to people-please, and encourages women to speak up for what they believe in — unapologetically.

The Pearse Centre dates continue until September 8, and run again on September 13 and 14.
