Desire Lines: Brown Thomas showcases Irish fashion

Some of what we're loving this weekend.

This summer, Brown Thomas once again showcases Irish creativity with a designer line celebrating the next generation of Irish fashion talent.
Four designers, each one mentored by fashion consultant Eddie Shanahan, will take over a dedicated in-store placement on level 2 of Brown Thomas, Grafton Street for a two-week residency.
The chosen designers are; Caroline Duffy (1–14 July), Kindred Ireland (15–28 July), Emerald & Wax (29 July–11 August) and Urban Aran (12–25 August).
Palazzo pants in black silk, €465. Silk top, €250, Irish Garden Collection by Caroline Duffy.

A Clarins lip oil sells somewhere in the world every 10 seconds.
As the brand marks the 10th anniversary of their launch, a new limited edition shade sees Clarins trademark colour reinvented as Iconic Red, shade n° 54. A tribute to the brand’s founding date.
Recently, a window display in Carrolls Irish Gifts caught our eye.
We used to think the shop was just for tourists, but as wearing your Irishness on your sleeve becomes more in vogue, we wondered if more Irish might be popping in for a nose themselves... then Lana Del Rey wore the Guinness jumper and we had our answer. It’s cool. €49.95

The Playful Culture Trail returns to Cork City this summer.
Now in its fifth year, a child-friendly map guides families through the city’s cultural highlights with 20 interactive activities, collecting stamps at each stop — from galleries and museums to historic landmarks.
At the heart of the trail is Bláithín the Lizard, the trail’s popular mascot.
Stops include Blackrock Castle Observatory, the Butter Museum, Cork City Gaol, Elizabeth Fort, Nano Nagle Place, The Glucksman Gallery, St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Shandon Bells and Tower, Old Cork Waterworks Experience, plus, parks and picnic points such as Fitzgerald Park, The Lough, and Marina Park.

We met Jennifer Fitzpatrick and her sewing machines at the art stalls at Ballymaloe’s Food Festival. At the time, she was thinking about setting up art classes.
Now they are officially live. On two Saturday afternoons, July 12 and 19, she’ll be teaching sewing skills to children.
They’ll design their own ‘creature’ and hand and machine sew their creations. Classes for grown-ups are also available to book.

THISISPOPBABY bring their smash-hit variety show, RIOT, back to Vicar Street for four nights this July.
Circus, cabaret, spoken word and theatre combine in this electrifying spectacle with performances from Panti Bliss, Emmet Kirwan, Lords of Strut and The Sirens.
A joyful clarion call for community and coalition, don’t miss it. From July 17 - 20.

Lidl’s ‘Tastes of the World’ promotions are a great chance to try new products, and we are particularly excited about what’s landed in stores for South America Week.
Pick up some Native Acaí Sorbet, priced at €3.19, available in Guaraná and Banana flavours, while stocks last.
