Desire Lines: The €35 Dunnes dress that's a hidden style gem

Savida Marga Leopard Puff Sleeve Dress, €35

The dress

When we spotted Muireann O'Connell wearing this gorgeous leopard print mini dress on Ireland AM, we were straight to her Instagram to find out where it was from.

Turns out, it's brand new Savida in Dunnes Stores and priced at just €35. Style it up with a pair of bright heels like Muireann for a cocktail night with the girls, or make it office-appropriate with a pair of tights and Dr Martens.

BBQs at The Croke Park Hotel
BBQs at The Croke Park Hotel

The BBQ

if you are one of the lucky few who managed to nab yourself a ticket to Coldplay next weekend, Croke Park hotel has a lovely pre-gig offer to whet your appetite. The Doyle Collection hotel is hosting a mighty 90-minute all-you-can-eat BBQ on their garden terrace on August 29 and 30, and September 1, at a cost of €50 a head.

Think dry-aged rib-eye burgers, grilled halloumi burgers, pork ribs teriyaki, grilled sea bass, chargrilled chicken and chicken wings, along with a stash of salads and sides, from baked potatoes to corn on the cob, and a dessert spread too. A stone's throw away from Croker, you can't get much handier than that.

The haircare

Summer might be on the way out (was it ever even here?), but the latest shampoo and conditioner duo from Irish haircare brand Voduz has a smell that will make you feel like you're in the Canaries all winter long.

Free from sulphates, parabens, and harsh chemicals that can strip natural oils and cause dryness, the lightweight Cleanse It Volume shampoo and conditioner (€16.95 each) give hair a fresh, clean feel with a coconut and fig scent that will have you itching for a piña colada. With UV filters and the brand's colour protection complex, it's safe for colour-treated hair too.

The family activity

With the Olympics just behind us, and the Paralympics just about to kick off, we're all a bit sports-mad at the moment. For rugby fans, the International Rugby Experience in Limerick is well worth a visit. Inspired by World Rugby's values of passion, discipline, integrity, solidarity and respect, the fully immersive, multi-sensory experience takes visitors on a journey from the grassroots to legendary status, with plenty of opportunities to test your own rugby skills along the way.

If you visit, don't forget to enter the competition to win a trip to see Ireland take on Italy in the Six Nations match in Rome next March. For a shot at the prize, simply share a photo of yourself and/or family and friends at the experience on Instagram, Facebook or X with the hashtag #WinLikeALegend, follow and tag the International Rugby Experience's social media account and ensure your post is public so your entry is visible. The competition runs from now until Sunday, September 8 with the winner notified the following week.

Tickets for the experience are priced at €12.50 for children (under 18, under 6s go free) and €17.50 for adults, with family and group discounts available. Open seven days a week from 9.30am to 6pm with the last tour starting at 4.30pm.

The day out

We're thrilled to see Fort Camden enjoying a busy summer season after an extended closure. Better still though is the new treasure map for kids. The deep artillery tunnels were always a source of excitement for little visitors, so this new hunt is the icing on the cake.

You'll pass a whole afternoon here. Just make sure you keep time for a coffee in the cafe that boasts one of the country's finest sea views.
