Rihanna was a hot mess in CdesG. This dress looks like someone mutilated the perfectly decent floral upholstery of an entire living-room set.

Cara Delevingne took the “In-Between” theme and went both gender and planet ambiguous in Chanel Couture. I’d call her silver-sprayed, crystal-studded scalp avant-garde but I have seen more than one stylish towhead with that look on the London Underground.

Katy Perry was a childhood nightmare in John Galliano. The camel-toe shoes are signature Maison Martin Margiela but an awful choice for a ball. I think the dress could be made prettier by removing a few details, starting with the headpiece and biker jacket-sleeves.

Kim Kardashian’s renounced materialism — or at least stopped wearing jewellery — and her simple Vivienne Westwood dress and sleek hair looked refreshingly minimalist on a carpet of over-the-top fashion.
