This week on the red carpet: Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Banks, Berenice Bejo, Tilda Swinton

Alicia Vikander  looked adorable in this Louis Vuitton peasant gown at the premiere of The Danish Girl at the Venice Film Festival.

This gown has taken some criticism for looking too costume-like, and if it were another actress I might agree. In this instance, Alicia pulls it off.

Elizabeth Banks chose a super-feminine Marchesa dress to the Venice premiere of A Bigger Splash. I doubt photos do the floral detailing (all silk appliqués) and intricate lace layers justice. The nude Jimmy Choo sandals and clutch are lovely.

Berenice Bejo went with a fun but flattering Zuhair Murad mini-dress for the Venice premiere of El Clan. In this image you can’t see her forearms because she’s tucked her hands into pockets, causing the sheer sleeves to gather and the embroidery to conceal skin.

Tilda Swinton’s in a long-term red-carpet relationship with Colombian designer Haider Ackerman. It works well for both of them, this off-the-shoulder lemon gown she wore to the Venice premiere of A Bigger Splash is great. I’m not so keen on the satin shoes, they look bridal.
