Irish labels Manley and Luke Lovely do grown-up gloss with contrast panelling; while designer Catriona Hanly opts for unbridled Studio 54-meetsChâteau de Versaille vibe. Highstreet veterans M&S win big with their semi-matte take on the trend (khaki, anyone?) while Zara’s mirror loafers get a shoe in with seasonally fulgent footwear.

STYLE NOTES

DO DAYWEAR: Layer a slouchy sweater over a metallic skirt (best pleated). Just add chunky brogues.

DESK-TO-DINNER: Upscale up a simple black dress with a high voltage clutch.
