Tried and tested

Our testers go in search of smooth, shiny locks with three new hair oils.

Tried and tested

* Avon Supreme Oil Duo Treatment 100ml, €6.45 ( www.avonireland.com )

“I’ve used oils before and they can make my fine hair limp and greasy, but this one was light and I didn’t have to worry about how much I used. It gave my locks a good shine and still left it with body. Great value too.”

* Keratin Revolution Argan Oil Illuminate, €27, available in salons “A luscious, light Argan oil that not only smoothed my hair but also gave it a lovely shine. It’s a bit more pricey than I’d usually pay, but I only needed one pump of product for my long hair and I loved the delicate scent.”

* Liz Earle Botanical Shine Nourishing Hair Oil, €21 ( www.lizearle.com )

“I’ve been using Moroccan oil for years and didn’t think anything could better it, but this blend of natural oils is heavenly, creating a noticeable shine on my bleached (and therefore very parched) hair and leaving smooth and soft.”

* Serum, SPF and foundation — that’s three steps in your morning routine, right? Well, not any more, thanks to Bobbi Brown’s latest innovation.

Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF40, €49.50, combines skin-soothing properties, sun protection and make-up in one, without sacrificing quality at any stage (Brown Thomas).

BEAUTY BULLETIN

Now that spring is here it’s time to introduce a bit more colour and light back into our make-up routines. Some may shy away from pastels and shimmers but, if used sparingly, they can instantly brighten a face.

The No7 range at Boots has launched two new products that can help with just that. The latest twist on the popular No7 Pop and Glow (€12.95) is a must-have for your handbag — it’s a multi-use product that requires no brushes, making it perfect for on-the-go touch-ups.

The newest version combines a beautiful blush with a bronzing or highlighting shimmer to give your cheeks not only a pop of colour but a beautiful glow.

It comes in two shades — Sunrise Glow for paler skins and Sunset Glow for those with darker complexions. Each side can be used separately or combined to give your face a radiant shimmer.

And if that doesn’t add enough sparkle, check out No 7’s Shimmer Palette in Caramel (€17.50).

It can be used as a highlighter to give a subtle sheen on the top of cheekbones or sweep it across cheeks for an extra lift. Perfect for bringing out a tan or adding warmth to paler skin tones.
