Festive beauty crackers packed with make-up minis and pampering pots
Then you need to ditch the traditional table fare and treat your guests to a corking cracker from their favourite beauty brand instead.
Whether you plump for a ’best of’ box or mix and match your crackers, these gift-filled goodies are sure to delight on Christmas Day.
Inside every cracker is a top beauty product: Hypnose Volume Mascara (black), Le Crayon Khol Eyeliner (black), Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, Lip Lover, L’absolue lipstick and Bi-Facil Eye Make Up Remover. No better way to celebrate the season of goodwill with your girlfriends.
Decorate your Christmas table in style with this cracker containing a deep sleep body therapy — a mini spray-on body treatment with Lavender and Camomile to relax and hydrate.
They look like traditional Crimbo crackers, but each matte or metallic-wrapped roll in this great value pack holds a make-up mini and a beauty tip too. Lip gloss, mascara and eyeliner are standard, so this is definitely more of a girly set.
Get in the spa mood with this cracking good cracker. It comes with four Bubble Heaven bath creams to relax mind and body as you take a long hot soak.
Get in the party mood with these brightly-hued crackers, each containing a nourishing shea butter hand and nail cream. Choose from pretty rose pink, punchy lime green or juicy Bois D’Orange.
Pucker up under the mistletoe with this super smooth lip balm in Juicy Peach which comes with mango butter, apricot butter, lingonberry oil and pomegranate extract. All very kissable.
Is your Christmas tree in need of a seasonal spruce-up? Give it a makeover with a bevy of baubles bursting with tiny beauty treats.
From cute star shapes to sizeable spheres, bestow the boughs with these dangling decorations and enjoy your most beautiful Yuletide.
Follow in the footsteps of the Wise Men with Molton Brown’s festively scented sphere. The bauble unscrews to release a rich, vetiver-infused hand-wash blended with frankincense oil.
It’ll look darling on the tree but open it up on Christmas Day to reveal a Stay Perfect Nail polish.
This bauble isn’t quite so suitable for hanging on the tree (unless you’ve got a 30ft Norwegian Spruce in your back garden), because it’s an almost football-sized tin filled with Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, Rose Jam Shower Gel and a bar of Sultana Of Soap.
Mavala’s diminutive nail polish pots are perfectly sized for a decorative sphere, and this year you can choose from ribbon-tied red, gold or silver shade— or all three if you’re feeling really festive.
Another weighty decoration, there’s nothing mini about Sanctuary’s Body Butter bauble. That’s no bad thing though, as this tub of luscious lotion will keep your skin moisturised and shimmering well into 2015.
Wrapped up in a hanging decoration, this all-natural beauty comes with Beeswax Lip Balm, along with a delicately scented Almond & Milk Hand Cream. Just what’s needed to cheer up your lips and hands on a chilly winter’s day.
Blouse Button, €12
For the more buxom among us, minimising cleavage can be a problem, especially around the party season.
The Blouse Button is a clever little accessory designed to help close up low-cut tops or dresses. Better than fiddling with safety pins, and we found it quite handy for our ponchos too. It comes in a crystal, pearl, black, red or purple style but our favourite is the pearl.

* Victoria Beckham’s clothing may be prohibitively expensive, but you can now get a VB-approved manicure thanks to a new collaboration via her diffusion line. The snappily titled Victoria, Victoria Beckham For Nails Inc comprises the almost pinkish Bamboo White and Judo Red (which is actually more like hazmat orange), each housed in a supremely chic matte bottle. They’re €25 each or €45 for the gift-boxed pair ( www.brownthomas.ie ).
* Ever on trend, Rihanna has chosen a metallic mauve as one of the two colours in the latest Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick range for MAC. It’s a charitable collection too – every cent of the selling price, €19.50, goes to MAC Aids Fund. The Fund has also commissioned a film, called It’s Not Over, on Netflix.
Over Christmas it’s tempting to stay indoors watching TV or sharing food with friends and family. But spare a thought for your complexion. A daily dose of fresh air and exercise is what’s needed to keep it looking bright and clear. And remember to keep your skin hydrated. We tend to sip on tea/coffee when the temperatures falls outside but our bodies still need water. Aim for 1.5 - 2 litres a day for best results.
Come the New Year’s Eve celebrations you’ll be glowing.
