On the red carpet: Rita Ora

Rita Ora’s Fausto Puglisi look for the KIIS Jingle Ball is copied from the catwalk but the brand wisely let the sweater fall below the hip, concealing the apex of the skirt’s slits and creating a grunge-meets-gladiator effect.

Stuffing it into the waistband leaves little to flatter her thighs.

Salma Hayek wears Gucci Premiere couture better than any other label. Maybe the bodice was conceived for a more boyish chest but this dress is still ridiculously lovely. I especially like the painstakingly-embroidered, onyx-glass paillettes.

Keira Knightley wore marabou-trimmed Simone Rocha to the British Independent Film Awards. This is a metallic cloqué dress from the designer’s Spring 2015 collection but still looks appropriate for December. Grey suede Jimmy Choo courts and diamond earrings are perfect.

Am I alone in thinking that Cameron Diaz is bizarrely cast as vindictive virago Miss Hannigan? The actress looked her usual fresh, glamorous self in Christian Dior at the world premiere of Annie in New York. Opaque black tights make this outfit a bit dul.
