Street trend: James McDonald

What are you wearing: Suit, Paul Smith at Brown Thomas €745; shirt, Zara €55; waistcoat, Mercury Goes Retrograde (vintage), €35; cravat, Miss Daisy Blue (vintage) €15; shoes, Ted Baker at Brown Thomas, €180.

Describe your style in three words: Refined, classical, curious.

How long does it take you to get dressed in the mornings: About 5-10 minutes depending on my level of inspiration.

Fashion or Function: Fashion. Your clothes should reflect your feelings, your personality and who you want to be on a particular day.

What’s your biggest source of style inspiration: I listen to music while I get dressed every morning. Music is the most evocative art; whether it’s Kendrick Lamar or Ravi Shankar, it changes how you feel.

What do you think of Irish street style: Cork has a lot of personality in its style because it’s such a small city and isn’t as influenced by the usual city trends like London and other cities are.

Where do you like to shop: TK Maxx is my favourite shop. I’m a bargain hunter at heart. Cork has some of the best vintage stores in Ireland as well. Miss Daisy Blue and Mercury Goes Retrograde.

Who or what is Ireland’s greatest undiscovered gem: A new Cork band called Talõs. Keep an ear out for them, they should be huge!

Why does your style/outfit work? I think my style works because I put thought into what I put on in the morning and then I am able to forget about the clothes for the rest of the day.
