“For the Berardi girl, the inspiration was a down town street girl with a touch of Joan Jett,” said Revlon Artistic Director Gucci Westman. “I created a flawless base with Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup, €13.99, and paired it with a contoured, bronzed cheek using Revlon Bronzer in Bronzilla, €11.20. I used ColorStay liner in Brown, €8.50, to create some youthful freckles.” Gucci began the rock-chick eye look with Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Eyeliner and Brightener in Emerald Empire, €8.50, all around the eyes, going back over the colour with Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen, €10.20, and then grunging it down a bit with her fingertips using Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.
BareMinerals makeup artist Sarah-Jane Froom created a fresh and flawless skin to compliment Mark Fast’s sexy webbed knitwear. Skin was kept simple but radiant, toned-down with barely a hint of bronzer. Sarah-Jane began by prepping the skin with bareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Foundation Primer, €25, adding a dusting of the brand’s Original SPF 15 Foundation, €28, over the top for a dewy sheen. The apples of the cheek were given a soft pink flush using bareMinerals Ready Blush in The Tease, mixed with bareMinerals Ready Blush in The Aphrodisiac, €25 each.
Brow and cheekbones were illuminated with bareMinerals Well-Rested Face Eye Brightener, €25, and bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil, €24. A dusting of the brand’s Nude Beach eye colour, €17, along the tops of the cheekbones and up towards the temples created an iridescent winter-frost kissed effect.
Topshop beauty consultant Hannah Murray complimented Topshop Unique’s sporty-chic fashion by channelling the coolest girl in school.
“The look is effortless, lived in but still quite tough. We’ve taken inspiration from The Royal Tenenbaums’ Margot, the rebellious school girl with attitude. There’s a bit of darkness about her but she’s still beautiful with an air of superiority,” Hannah explains.
“I rimmed the eyes with Topshop Beauty Kohl in Coal, €5, smudging it out so it looks lived in, hooking the colour up into upper water line so it frames the eye without looking like make up on the lid.” She layered Topshop Beauty Waterproof Lash Mascara in Black, €12.50, on the top lashes only, using the tip end of brush to push it right up into the root for a cloggy look. A dab of Topshop Beauty Lips in Mink, €9, finished the look.
Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge created “a glamorous and sexy Anjelica Huston-inspired look” using Benefit cosmetics to tone with Matthew Williamson’s über-sultry, Seventies-inspired fashion.
The deep berry pout was the focal point of this look. Lisa applied BADgal Waterproof Liner in Brown, €21.50, all over the lips. She then applied a full coat of Benetint, €33.50, and finished with a layer of Bella Bamba Ultra Plush Gloss, €21, to create the unusual plum hue.
Braids will be a huge hair trend for Autumn/Winter, seen at shows including Simone Rocha and Jean Pierre Braganza. At Temperley London, the Moroccanoil team created a romantic, bohemian side-braid. Lead stylist Malcolm Edwards breaks down the look:
* “Take a palm-sized amount of Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse, €24.85, and work it evenly through wet hair from the root to tip. Blow dry the hair smooth with a large barrel brush.
* “Put a curling iron through the hair at the front, just at the roots, for more sexy definition and to frame the face. With the hair in a low side parting, take two sections of hair at the back (at either side of the parting) and braid them. The braid should start tight at the top and then get looser.
* “Then braid this in with the remaining hair loosely to one side. This gives a peep of detail but keeps the overall look relaxed. Spray the full head with strong-hold hairspray to keep it in place. Finish with a light mist of shine spray for extra definition.”
