Trend of the week: Create a wardrobe that represents you

“Personal style is accepting who you are” – Diane Von Furstenberg. Should you change your style at 40?

Trend of the week: Create a wardrobe that represents you

INSPIRATION

Age-appropriate dressing is a bit like the ‘no make-up’ look – seemingly effortless but difficult to master. Translating trends for an over 40s wardrobe can be a bit like finding the square root of Pi.

That doesn’t mean all is lost. It’s a question of accepting who you are today and creating a wardrobe that represents the 2.0 version of you.

Top tip? Think fit, fabric and function. Spend what you can on skin-friendly fibres in shapes that flatter your figure. It’s the only style GPS you’ll need!

STYLE NOTES

The key to looking put together is dressing for who you are now; not the person you were ten years ago.

Treat trends like salt – a little adds flavour; too much spoils the taste.

More dash than cash? Classic shapes budget-proof. Capsule favourites like a wool Crombie coat, structured leather bag or midi length LBD have a proven cost-per-wear ratio.

Ignore trends. Develop your own signature be it a curve-skimming wrap dress or a Dietrich-inspired tux.
