MAC honours Antonio Lopez

Product watch - Make-ups

Antonio Lopez was a fashion illustrator in New York during disco’s heyday. He inked “Antonio’s Girls,” including Jerry Hall, Marisa Berenson and Pat Cleveland, for Vogue, Harper’s and Elle. MAC pays tribute to the artist, who died in 1987, with a new make-up collection.

Illustrations of his muses feature on six eye shadow palettes, €46, three lip palettes, €36, and two face compacts, €40. The collection offers vibrant shades of fuchsias, reds, purples and blues, as well as warm neutrals for the face. Snap them up online from the 5 September or at counters from 12 September.

Lancôme in the City of Lights

Lancôme celebrates the world’s romantic capital this month with L’Absolu Désir, a seductive autumn makeup collection. Create classic lips with L’Absolu Rouge in Caprice, €26, a vermillion with a dash of orange. Or indulge in this season’s berry lips trend with the plum and raspberry shades. The lipsticks are all highly-pigmented with active lip-plumping ingredients.

Rose Désir Blush, €45, is a radiance-enhancing powder in a compact glittering with Parisian imagery: the Eiffel Tower, roses and lip-sticky kisses. The orange-tinted shade sculpts the cheeks, while the pink-tinted shade warms the top of the cheekbones. Complete the look with the anthracite nail colour, Vernis in Love in Grey Lumière, €18.00

Lancôme L’Absolu Désir is available on counters from September 1.

Jo Malone Peonies and Blush Suede

I want my world to smell like this summer-meets-autumn scent! Peonies are my favourite flower and are at their best in July. Jo Malone put them at the heart of this luxurious perfume, adding a crisp apple top-note and a soft, blush-suede base. Brand devotees may like to layer this over English Pear & Freesia, for extra juiciness, or over Orange Blossom, to enhance the floral notes.

Jo Malone Peonies and Blush Suede Cologne, €48 for 30ml, and Body Crème, €65, on counters September 2.

Giorgio Armani’s Kaleidoscopic Prism

“Kaleidoscopic Prism” is the autumn collection by Giorgio Armani Beauty, named for the multi-faceted, luminosity-boosting colours of the products. Linda Cantello, International Makeup Artist for the brand, created two Face & Eyes palettes, €65, each offering a face powder and three eye shadows. The face powders come in rosy blush and light pink, while the shadows range from smoky purple and iridescent blue to copper wood and sea green.

An additional six shades of Eyes to Kill Intense Shadow, €28.50, are available in mono palettes. Dubbed “Kaleidoscopic Pearls,” these creamy shadows create vibrant, metallic colours that change with the light and come in shades like aqua, emerald and pink. Six new Rouge d’Armani lipsticks, €26, come in the berry shades that were so chic on the catwalk. Linda recommends dabbing the lipstick bullet against your lips to leave a stain, then layering it in light strokes to create a “bitten” look.

The Giorgio Armani Fall Collection is available exclusively at Brown Thomas from September 1.

Bobbi Brown’s Chocolate Fix

“This Autumn, chocolate is the new black,” says Bobbi Brown, whose new Rich Chocolate collection is all about raspberries and browns. The eye palette, €50, is the stand-out item, offering day-to-night shades of cocoa, champagne truffle and caramel. Compliment the look with berry blush and lipstick, both €26, and Tea Berry lipgloss, €24. The Extreme Party Mascara, €25, is a chocolate-infused black with a thick brush that creates serious volume. The brand’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Dark Chocolate Ink, €22.50, is already a hit with Alexa Chung.

The Rich Chocolate Collection is on Bobbi Brown counters from September 1.

Clinique’s Problem-Solving Primers

Let Clinique cater to you with one of its new, customised Superprimers. These oil-free bases help to prep the skin so your favourite foundation looks better than ever. The white option creates a smooth foundation canvas for those without a specific complexion concern.

The five skin-perfecting variations appear translucent upon application. The yellow primer corrects redness for a neutral base. The pink brightens dull, lacklustre skin. The pearly bronze corrects dullness on darker complexions. The peachy primer helps to neutralise dark spots, acne scars and hyper-pigmentation, while the lavender give sallow skin a healthy appearance.

Clinique Superprimers, €27 each, are on counters from September 6.
