Do Cello Shots with Estée Lauder

Product Watch: Beauty products

Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Cello Shots makes magenta, scarlet and fuchsia accessible with a diluted finish. “Cello” is short for cellophane, which neatly evokes the sheer, glossy colour the products create. Cheek Rush blush-pumps dispense a cooling, water-based gel formula that’s perfect for holiday wear. Too much of a bold shade looks cartoonish. Dab a drop on the apples of the cheeks and blend for a pretty flush. Sheer Rush lipshine, €24, is a lippy-balm hybrid that hydrates the lips and gives them a just-bitten glow. Sheer Rush gloss, €22.50, creates a transparent, wet-look colour.

Now available at Brown Thomas, on counters nationwide from Jul 1.

Get Marilyn’s Aquamarine Eyes with Dior

Channel Marilyn Monroe in Warhol’s iconic diptych with Dior’s 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette in Blue Lagoon, €55. This is a gorgeous selection of seafoam, teals, and turquoise shades. Blend them as you please but for intensely aqueous eyes, use all five. To look wide awake, apply the lightest green to the inside corners of the upper lids. Define the eyes by using a liner brush to apply the central shade along the upper lash-line. Wash the sea-blue shadow over the lids and use the teal shade in the eye contours. To finish, pat the verdant green under the lower lash-line with a small concealer brush. Prefer low-maintenance makeup? Try Diorshow Waterproof Liner in Aqua Green, €23.50, for a single shot of colour.

Match Clae Oldenburg’s Lipstick with MAC

A giant tangerine lippy is among the Swedish sculptor’s most famous works. If you’re wary of the real, pocket-sized version, check out MAC’s All About Orange lipsticks, €18 each. An orange pout is flattering, ultra-modern and a huge international trend this season. This collection has a juicy shade to suit all tastes, from traffic-cone (Neon Orange) to creamy coral (Sushi Kiss) and soft peach (Sweet & Sour). Once you’ve found your flavour, try picking it up with a peach Lipglass in Imperial Light, €21, and a coral powder-blush in Honey Jasmine, €22.50. An apricot blush will offset any natural ruddiness in the cheeks, so Royal Sunset will suit those quick to flush.

Available exclusively at Brown Thomas from Jun 1.

Gift a Lush-ious Roy Lichtenstein

Boost a friend’s spirits with a Ka-pow! gift set, €59.95, from Lush. Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s comic-book art, the box is packed with invigorating bath products to get you powered up for the day. Whoosh Shower Jelly contains an energising blend of lemon and lime, infused with revitalising rosemary. Happy Hippy shower gel speeds recovery from jet lag with pink grapefruit oil and a peppermint oil shampoo bar wakes you up scalp-first. Wasabi and mint Toothy Tabs blast away bad breath while Dirty soap gets you seriously clean. Then choose between the fennel and ginger Sugar Scrub or the Kylie-approved Buffy Body Butter to boost circulation and remove dry skin. My favourite product is the Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar, which soothes shoulder knots with warming cinnamon oil and softens skin with shea butter and organic jojoba.

Revlon Lights Up Your Nails

UK artist Chris Bracey’s glamorous installations make neon signage classy, not trashy. Get a little Vegas on your nails with Revlon’s Neon Nail Art pens, €11 each. One tip is a white base coat, which makes a top-coat of the fluorescent polish opposite even brighter. The brush for the coloured polish is narrow, so you can draw patterns or paint a smooth coat. Make a masterpiece of your manicure using a couple of the rainbow-bright shades.

On-the-Sofa Salon

Sunshine and styling don’t mix and your protective efforts (dry shampoo, volumising mousse, etc) can leave hair feeling less than fresh. Treat your locks to Kérastase Cristalliste Luminous Perfecting Mask, €33.50, while you catch up on Homeland. The formula contains celilla wax and ceramide to heal damaged cuticles. Nourishing dry oil forms a film over the hair fibre, smoothing each strand and protecting against havoc wreaked by heated styling tools. The mask is also enriched with a body-boosting polymer that means you’ll be less tempted to backcomb. The result is shiny, sweet-smelling hair that feels ready for another week of tousling and tongs.
