Tried and tested
The star ingredient is Chinese purple rice, a powerful antioxidant that evens skintone and doesn’t feel the least bit gritty. My skin looked brighter but felt a little dry after use. The grains rinsed off quickly and I liked the lemony fragrance.
Skin Jive is one for sensitive types. Additional citrus oils hydrate and soothe. This body scrub gives you an urban detox, cleansing city pollutants and helping skin to better absorb creams. It’s safe to use on baby too.
This mentholated scrub is very much a “wake up and go” product and perfect for hot days. It exfoliates with fine walnut powder, natural loofah and jojoba beads, which smooth the skin and get your sinuses buzzing. I found it invigorating, uplifting and effective.
This rich, luxurious exfoliator smells gloriously of almond oil and pink grapefruit. It is quite good value as one application per week is enough stay soft and perfectly polished. More frequent use (for test purposes) increased my skin’s sensitivity.
Vita Liberata has Belfast roots. To quote Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh, this tan “makes you look like you’ve had a really good holiday”. The natural, Rich Tea biscuit-y colour and fresh scent makes you forget it was a stay-cation. This tan lasted a week.
The mist contains acai berry oil and melon and orange extracts. Karora is another great Irish tanning brand. The golden brown colour was very Hollywood and the nourishing Argan oil left my skin gleaming.
The formula is gardenia-scented and kind to sensitive skin, as the tint is vegetable-based. The tan developed to a yellowish-ochre, which I wasn’t keen on. It doesn’t come in a variety of tones, though a darker hue results from wearing it for 3 hours before showering.
It costs a lot to tan with this cream but it counts as top-class skincare. Like every Crème product, it contains restorative, regenerative “Miracle Broth”). This is intended as a year-round product and develops slowly and incredibly naturally from subtle glow to a yummy, toast-brown.
This hydrating serum creates a subtle glow that works for day or evening. The sheen doesn’t last and the brand recommends regular reapplication. I particularly like the scent: a mood-boosting mix of neroli, vetivert and geranium.
This silky oil is packed with fine gold particles that enhance a tan and give pale skin subtle sparkle. I loved the gentle fragrance, which includes mandarin, grapefruit, Tonka bean and ylang ylang notes.
This limited-edition spray is a summer-y scent and sexy body-sheen in one. This is a great holiday buy, as you’re packing your perfume and body moisturiser in 100ml.
This oil is quite a rich bronze and best worn with a dark tan or naturally olive complexion. The sheen (which was hard to keep even, though I did shake the bottle vigorously) was very obvious. If you want to highlight your assets, this is your gloss!
