Dark and deep are the bywords for 2012’s new neutral - winter green. If sombre black leaves you feeling drained, take heart in this complexion-enhancing alternative. The only question now is ‘How will you wear it?’

STYLE NOTES

A Breton top and velvet jacket make a smart casual pairing with hunter twill jeans.

Brave it head-to-toe with red lacquer lips for night-time glamour. Use luxe fabrics like chiffon and velvet for maximum effect.

Too much? Break up a forest green suit with an optical print shirt a la Miu Miu, or add a brightly patterned scarf to a Brunswick dress.

Colour-blocking fan? Avoid pairings with orange and red lest you resemble a pumpkin or Christmas ornament.
