Former racing pundit John McCririck dies aged 79

John McCririck has died at the age of 79.

The former Channel 4 racing pundit's death was reported by Racing Post who tweeted:

"Sad to report that legendary racing broadcaster John McCririck has died at the age of 79."

Another tweet read, "McCririck was the face of Channel 4 Racing, and one of the sport's most recognisable figures. He was also an award-winning journalist for The Sporting Life."

John McCririck's broadcasting style made him a household name in the world of sport for over three decades.

The well-known broadcaster achieved even wider fame through his appearances on entertainment programmes such as Celebrity Big Brother.

He had been ill for some time, suffering severe flu last Christmas, which left him unable to speak for some time and caused him to lose three stone in weight.
