RTÉ’s new Strictly Come Dancing show is a mere month away and up to now we’ve heard very little about the line-up.
So far only one celebrity contestant has been confirmed and that Big Brother runner-up Hughie Maughan.
Now it has been revealed that Amanda Byram will return to our shores to host the show.
According to the Irish Sun, a show source said: “Vogue would have been brilliant doing this on RTÉ2 but Dancing With The Stars airs on RTÉ One on Sunday nights.
“RTÉ feared a gum-chewing model DJ was too young and might alienate the older audience of middle Ireland watching on Sunday nights. It’s a Glenroe audience.”
Amanda began her career as an Irish model before taking on the job of presenting Ireland AM, which at the time was Ireland’s very first breakfast show.
Her presenting career swiftly moved to the UK before moving to the big lights of Hollywood to host shows such as The Swan and Paradise Hotel.
The news will come as a surprise to fans as it was highly rumoured that Nicky Byrne had the gig in the bag.
Although the job for the second host of the show has yet to be announced.
