In response to this, actress Janet Hubert - who played Will Smith’s aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - has recorded a video slamming the decision.
The video is titled ‘To the Smiths’.
“First of all, miss thing,” Hubert begins.
“Does your man not have a mouth of his own with which to speak?”
She went on to say: “The second thing, girlfriend, there’s a lot of sh*t going on in the world that you all don’t seem to recognise. People are dying. Our boys are being shot left and right.
“People are starving. People are trying to pay bills. And you’re talking about some motherf**king actors and Oscars. It just ain’t that deep.”
The 60-year-actress then refers to a previous feud between herself and Will Smith during the filming of The Fresh Prince of Bel-air, as she begins to talk about karma.
“You ain’t Barack and Michelle Obama. And you all need to get over yourselves. You have a huge production company that you only produce your friends, your family, and yourself,” she says.
“So you are a part of Hollywood, you are a part of the system that is unfair to other actors, so get real!”
Ouch.
