Electric Picnic campsite to feature free laundrette - with dancefloor (obviously)

This year's Electric Picnic festival is to feature a giant laundrette.

The Surf Laundry Club will be located in a specially-constructed area in the Jimi Hendrix campsite.

Organisers say it will be "be the place to go to scrub up and make sure the weekend is spent looking, and smelling, fresh" - a traditionally rare state for most festival-goers to find themselves in.

Anyone who washes their clothes will be given a jumpsuit while they wait, and will be invited to throw some shapes on the laundrette dance floor.

A set of interactive washing machines, seating area, and "one or two yet-to-be revealed surprises" have also been promised.

Kathryn Dodd of the shopper marketing homecare category, Surf Brand, said: “Surf is very excited to bring The Surf Laundry Club to Electric Picnic.

“This is the first time a full service laundrette has been available to attendees at Electric Picnic and Surf is delighted to be able to offer a home comfort at a festival that often ends up leaving music fans in need of freshening up!”

Tickets for the Electric Picnic arts and music festival, which takes place from September 4-6 in Stradbally, Co Laois, are sold out.
