Mad Men, House of Cards, Transparent and Game of Thrones lead Emmy nominations
Mad Men, the political thriller House of Cards and the transgender comedy Transparent have taken the top nominations for the Emmy Awards.
The hit fantasy series Game of Thrones leads the nominations - it has been shortlisted in 24 categories.
The BBC's Wolf Hall has also been nominated for Outstanding Limited Series.
Downton Abbey earned a nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series category at the 67th annual Primetime Emmy awards.
Downton became the most nominated non-US show in Emmy history after just two seasons. After five seasons, the show has now gained 50 Emmy nominations and 13 wins.
Others nominated in the category include Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards, Mad Men and Orange Is The New Black.
Downton picked up two further nominations, for supporting actor (Jim Carter) and supporting actress (Joanne Froggatt).
Wolf Hall will face competition from American Crime, American Horror Story, Oliver Kitteride, and another BBC show, The Honourable Woman.
Mark Rylance got a nomination in the category Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie.
