VIDEO: BRIT award-winning artist Finlay Quaye kicked off stage for 'bullshit'
Award-winning reggae artist Finlay Quaye took to an intimate stage this weekend at a private club - only to be kicked off after just three minutes.
Saturday night's show ended when the promoter took to the stage and sent the band home for their "bullshit" - before posting a video of the performance online.
Watch the first minute of discordant progressions, then jump to the three-minute mark to see the promoter kick them off this stage.
"I've worked in the industry 28 years," he says, picking up the microphone alleging that Quaye's band didn't turn up for sound check. "And then they come and f*** my stage – you guys, go home."
He then offers the audience refunds on their tickets, as the band packs up behind him. "I will not sit here and pollute my venue with bullshit … this is my house." The audience are than invited down to the bar.
Quaye, from Scotland, won a Mobo Award in 1997 for Best Reggae Act, and a BRIT Award in 1998 for Best Male Artist.
In 2012, Quaye was convicted of aggravated assault in Edinburgh, and in 2012, faced bankruptcy after a large unpaid tax bill was brought before the courts.
The Convent Club, where this performance took place, is based at the former Convent Of Poor Clares in South Woodchester, Gloucestershire.
A private member's club with a picturesque old chapel as its main venue, it hosts a range of acts.
The following night, they hosted Larkin Poe, who put on a more impressive (and longer) performance. The club also live-streams its intimate performances online.
