Rumours Mel B was axed from X factor because of husband 'absolute nonsense'

Mel B's management have rubbished claims she was axed from 'The X Factor' because of her husband Stephen Belafonte.

The 39-year-old star's manager has spoken out after her brother-in-law Jeremiah Stansbury claimed that she had been sacked from her role as a judge on the ITV show because of her tumultuous relationship with his brother.

Insisting the allegations were "absolute nonsense", he said: "Jeremiah has no knowledge of what did or did not happen - and should not be believed."

The former Spice Girls star's manager added to MailOnline: "From personal experience I can tell you Stephen is a decent upstanding guy, who is a great husband, father and step father, and in fact, great to work with."

Rumours of troubles in Mel's marriage emerged last year after she was rushed to hospital after collapsing and later appeared on 'The X Factor' with visible bruises and without her wedding ring..

Jeremiah claimed: "She doesn't seem to have the right people around her. She is very vulnerable so she hasn't been able to leave him.

"It is sad she got axed. The world of showbusiness has a high threshold of debauchery - you can party and you can have sex with strippers and they welcome you back.

"But there is a certain level of toxicity that will not be tolerated. And once people see through Stephen's good looks and new clothes they cut him off.

"It's hard to have him around. He wants everything his way.

"But there are some really accomplished and talented people with real credentials involved on that show and they don't buy into it."
