Clooney and Amal planning Irish summer holiday

Reports today suggest George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin will be taking in the sights on an Irish holiday this summer.

Clooney said he was "embarrassed" that he had never "properly" been to Ireland, but is now planning the trip.

The actor and director has told the Irish Independent that Amal had been here several times so she could show him around.

He said: "I'm definitely going to make a visit happen this summer."

Clooney's Irish roots include his father's great-great-grandfather Nicholas Clooney, who hailed from Co Kilkenny. His paternal grandmother's maiden name was Guilfoyle.
