WATCH: Mariah celebrates hit's 20th anniversary with THIS performance
Mariah Carey kicked off Wednesday’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center with a live performance of her holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
The special performance celebrated the song’s 20th anniversary.
20th anniversary of the song? WOW.
Hit it Mariah!
Ammmm … is that how it goes?
Wait … we can explain.
Carey’s performance was meant to be pre-taped on Tuesday night. Though was three hours late, reportedly due to a phone call regarding her divorce, keeping fans and the show crew waiting outside for hours.
The singer, who has appeared on the show several times, tweeted fans to apologize.
Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you.

By the time she showed, NBC pulled the plug on her performance, only to reconsider early Wednesday and decide to have her perform live.
She later revealed she would now be opening the show, and went on to share a backstage photo from her dressing room at Rockefeller Center.
Though Carey appeared visibly frustrated with her ear pieces during the live performance we can’t help but think she looked in pain.
We sincerely hope we won’t be hearing that version at our Christmas party.
