Anne Hathaway feels “quite a bit Irish”

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway told Newstalk’s Pat Kenny yesterday how she feels that she is “quite a bit Irish”.

The actress spoke of her close cousins here in Ireland and admitted that “flowing through [her] blood is Irish heritage”

“My mother’s maiden name is McAuley, and my grandmother’s name was Sinnott,” she added.

“There’s only a few [cousins] that I have met – and I was to give a big shout out to my dear, dear cousin Noel.”

Noel? Ah he kept that one quite!

In an interview during the shooting of Becoming Jane in Co Wicklow back in 2007, the actress also said that she would love to live in Ireland - however she did admit that she couldn’t handle the weather.

“Ireland is pretty magical but the weather is schizophrenic.”
