McAvoy set to lose his hair at last for Professor X role

James McAvoy has joked about going bald for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.

The handsome actor has previously appeared in 'X-Men: First Class' and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' with a full head of hair, despite the fact that the comic book version of his character Professor Charles Xavier is completely bald.

But now, James has revealed that he will be older in the upcoming superhero flick, 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and even hinted that he will finally shave his head for the role.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, James shared: "I'll be older in this one. And I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know."

An older Professor X has been played by Patrick Stewart in the past, with his traditional comic book baldness.

The film - which is also set to star Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Hugh Jackman - isn't scheduled for release until May 19, 2016, so it isn't surprising to hear that James doesn't know much about the movie as of yet.

He told the site: "I got an email from the [producer and writer] Simon Kinberg who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know."

However, James did note that the film will have world-wide repercussions for the Marvel universe though, as he added: "It seems fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse."
