Sony Pictures and Original Film have started work on the sequel to the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill movie after selecting Rodney Rothman, who co-wrote ’22 Jump Street’, to pen the third version of the franchise.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who helmed the first and second film, are overseeing the script with Rotham and will produce the third movie alongside Neal Moritz, Hill and Tatum.

However, it is not yet known whether the duo will direct the film, according to Deadline.com.

Meanwhile, ’22 Jump Street’, which grossed $320 million worldwide, hit cinemas earlier this year and saw police officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) go under cover at a local college and attempt to crack a crime ring in a fraternity.

However, not only did they have to find out who was selling the latest designer drug WHYPHY, which had claimed the life of a female student on campus, but they also had to work out whether they could have a mature relationship as they started to query their partnership.
