Mad Men actors Bledel and Kartheiser to tie the knot

Alexis Bledel and her 'Mad Men' co-star Vincent Kartheiser are to marry.

A representative for 31-year-old Alexis confirmed the engagement to 33-year-old Vincent, but would not provide any further details on the proposal.

The couple started dating after falling for each other on the set of advertising drama 'Mad Men' last year when Alexis joined the cast as Beth Dawes for a short stint.

Vincent has an unusual lifestyle, believing in Asceticism, a practice by which individuals eschew worldly pleasures for spiritual gain.

He lives in a wooden house with no mirrors, is a strict vegetarian and has previously stated he has made a "green" decision not to have children.

A source told Life & Style Weekly magazine: "Vinnie basically fell in love with Alexis while she filmed a three-episode cameo. He was definitely smitten with her from the beginning."

When she was working on 'Mad Men', Alexis had nothing but praise for Vincent.

She said at the time: "He's light and funny and has lots of energy on set. He keeps everybody energised as well."

Alexis was previously in a long-term relationship with her 'Gilmore Girls' co-star Milo Ventimiglia from December 2002 to July 2006.
