Oscar hopeful Fodhla's dad: 'We've been waiting a long time for this'

One house in Co Kerry will be paying special attention to the Academy Awards this weekend.

The family of Oscar-nominated producer Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly will be hoping that their daughter joins a very short list of Irish winners of the coveted award.

Her short animated movie 'Head Over Heels' is competing in the Best Animated Short category.

'Head Over Heels' is a short story about a husband and wife who have grown apart - he lives in the floor and she on the ceiling of the home they share.

Fodhla's father Patrick O'Reilly said they were very proud of her, and that he would be watching at home on Sunday night with his new digital TV package, bought especially for the occasion.

"I'll be at home on Sunday night, even though I think a lot of the pubs in Kerry are running right through the night," he said.

"It will be a family occasion and we'll watch it topgether, because we've been waiting a long time for this."
